Polyvinyl Butyral Resin is the most widely used type of Polyvinyl Acetyl Resins. It is a reaction product of polyvinyl alcohol with butyraldehyde. The final properties and solubility of Polyvinyl Butyral Resin largely depends on molecular weight and ratio of vinyl acetyl, vinyl acetate groupings present in the molecule.
The molecular weight and amount of functional groups are judiciously selected for each grade of polyvinyl butyral resins so that it conforms product having predetermined specifications and its performance in its end applications. It is selected to manufacture the most widely used grades of polyvinyl butyral resins having extensive application wood finishes, adhesives, textile coatings, toners and printing inks, thick films, ceramic binders, wire enamels, surface coatings and wash primers.
